Truss Designer (MiTek)
Employment Type: Full-Time Experience Level: Senior (5+ Years) Compensation: $70,000 – $95,000 annually, based on experience
Job SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Truss Designer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five (5) years of hands-on truss design experience using MiTek software and a strong background designing roof and floor trusses for commercial and multi-family construction projects. This role requires technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate with project managers, engineers, and production teams to deliver accurate, code-compliant designs on schedule.
Key Responsibilities- Design roof and floor truss systems using MiTek software in accordance with project specifications, building codes, and engineering standards
- Prepare detailed truss layout drawings, design calculations, and material takeoffs
- Design trusses for commercial and multi-family structures, including complex load conditions and architectural requirements
- Review architectural and structural plans to identify design challenges and coordinate solutions
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, sales teams, and manufacturing staff to ensure accurate and buildable designs
- Revise truss designs based on feedback, field conditions, or changes to project scope
- Ensure designs meet local, state, and national building codes and industry standards
- Support troubleshooting and problem-solving during fabrication and installation as needed
- Minimum of 5 years of truss design experience
- Proficiency with MiTek truss design software
- Demonstrated experience designing trusses for commercial and multi-family buildings
- Strong understanding of structural concepts, load paths, and applicable building codes
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Experience working directly with engineers and code officials
- Familiarity with truss manufacturing and installation processes
