Location: North Newton

Bethel College of Kansas invites applications for the Strings Instructor Position at Bethel College Academy of Performing Arts (BCAPA). Hours vary depending on student interest with further potential for group lessons in chamber ensembles. BCAPA offers competitive pay on a sliding scale depending on qualifications, education, and experience. Suzuki trained teachers preferred, but non-Suzuki candidates will be considered as well.

Essential Functions

* Teach private strings lessons to students ages 5 and up on a weekly basis

* Prepare materials/lesson plans prior to weekly lessons

* Create an encouraging learning environment for all students

* Prepare students to perform at music recitals at the end of each semester

* Communicate teaching availability and make up lesson schedules to BCAPA's Music Coordinator

* Attend BCAPA staff meetings twice per year

Required Qualifications

* Degree in music or a related field, or equivalent teaching experience

* Experience working with children and families

* Strong communication skills

* Ability to use a variety of teaching techniques to promote student success

* Suzuki strings certifications are preferred, but not required
