You may be eligible for the Wallace County Recruitment Incentive of up to $10,000 for moving to and working in Wallace County, Ks. -Incentive
You may also be eligible for the Rural Opportunity Zone (ROZ) Program. The main goal of the program was to attract residents and businesses to rural areas. The program consists of two components: (1) a state income tax waiver and (2) student loan repayment assistance, both of which are available for up to five years.
Weskan Schools USD 242 has a vacancy for an Agriculture teacher at Weskan Schools Jr/Sr High School (Grades 8-12) for the school year. Weksan is an agricultural, rural community with tremendous community support from our local FFA Alumni to restart an FFA Chapter.
We are looking for a candidate with the drive and the ability to connect with a wide range of stakeholders and partners in the school and community. Plans have begun for the expansion of new livestock facilities, and there are many opportunities to create a new direction for the program with new course offerings.
There is a stipend for FFA sponsorship that is required for this position. Additional coaching or sponsorship stipends may be available.

Qualifications:
The classroom teacher will meet qualifications and behavior standards as set by the Kansas Department of Education. In accordance with certification requirements and the performance expectations of USD #242, all classroom teachers shall meet the following employment criteria:
* A Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university.
* A valid Kansas Teachers Certificate with appropriate endorsement.
* Professional verification of successful classroom teacher performance and/or student teaching experience.
Performance Responsibilities:
* Communicates high expectations to all learners
* Incorporates appropriate use of technology
* Effectively implements the district-adopted curriculum
* Develops lesson plans by incorporating effective lesson design
* Routinely integrates a variety of informal and formal assessments into instruction
* Administers standardized tests in accordance with district testing protocol
* Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve effective participation in activities and learning experiences
* Maintains up-to-date records of student progress
* Creates a positive, inviting, and safe learning environment
* Communicates effectively and promotes positive relationships with all patrons
* Supports the Districts educational mission for all students and implements all Board regulations and policies in a fair and equitable manner
* Oversee Supervised Agricultural Experience programs of all students who receive instruction by assisting students in selecting a program that fits their interests and abilities; maintaining records, locating training stations, making supervisory visits during the school year, and during the summer month
* Supervise and maintain the school laboratory (farm, feeding center, greenhouse,, etc.) used for students' supervised agricultural experience
* Plan and conduct an organized program of instruction and/or community involvement with adults. This may include, but is not limited to, alumni, young farmers, and booster clubs. Most of this instruction will be given after school, at night, and during the summer
* Prepare and submit FFA rosters, entries, registrations, etc., required by the local, district, area, state, and office promptly, and keep an accurate file copy of all records and reports
* Attend in area, state, and national training meetings
* Provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to compete in a global economy
* Remain abreast and inform students about agriculture and agricultural literacy
* Initiate, facilitate, and moderate classroom discussions
* Maintains confidentiality
* Assisting with school events
* Performs other tasks and assumes other responsibilities as the principal or superintendent may assign
