Who We AreWaukegan Community Unit School District No. 60 serves nearly 14,000 students in preschool through grade 12 and is located halfway between Chicago, Illinois and Milwaukee, Wisconsin on the shores of Lake Michigan. The District has one early learning center, 15 elementary schools, five middle schools and a high school program divided between two 9‑12th grade campuses. The District encompasses portions of Waukegan, Beach Park and Park City.

ResponsibilitiesThe purpose of the Teacher is to provide instruction to students in reading, math, science and other featured academic areas to best facilitate academic growth during the summer school session. This includes attending all professional development and training intended for teachers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Promote a safe and positive environment by observing and managing behavior of students, and facilitating a positive and supportive learning environment. Assist faculty with immediate safety problems;
- To be present with students during all instructional and supervisory times.
- To plan for Language Art, Math, Science and other featured academic areas.
- To provide for all students’ growth by scaffolding lessons including differentiation and modification of materials.
- To participate with staff in promoting the enrichment component that is designed for students during the Summer School session.
Any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience RequiredProfessional Educator License (ESL endorsement preferred).
CompensationBased on current hourly wages for teachers.

Student attendance dates: June 2 through June 30, 2026
PreK-8th Grade Student attendance: 8:30 am – 2:00 pm Monday through Thursday
9-12th Grade Student attendance: Session A 8 – 11:30 am Session B 12:15 – 3:45 pm Monday through Thursday
