Job Coach Position Overview

The Job Coach supports Transition Facilitators and teachers in delivering lessons, managing classrooms, and assisting students receiving special education services. This role involves reinforcing instruction, supervising students, and providing guidance in a positive, professional, and supportive manner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with classroom instruction, including small‑group or one‑on‑one support, and clarify concepts for better student understanding.
  • Prepare and organize teaching materials; maintain an orderly, distraction‑free classroom.
  • Supervise students in academic, vocational, and community settings.
  • Support students' physical, personal, academic, and emotional needs with compassion and patience.
  • Perform clerical tasks such as attendance tracking, filing, photocopying, assisting and grading time sheets, and grading evaluations.
  • Complete scheduled paperwork tasks, including organizing evaluation sheets, time sheets, and weekly Job Coach notes and data.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding student information.
  • May be required to transport students to and from job sites using district‑approved vehicles and/or ride district transportation to and from job sites.
  • Communicate student absences to job sites as directed.
  • Respond professionally and flexibly to schedule changes or unforeseen circumstances, problem‑solving in real time while prioritizing student safety and program continuity.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with staff, students, and the community.
Work Hours
  • Tonganoxie: 7:45‑3:00 pm
  • May clock in 5–10 minutes before and after scheduled hours; additional time requires approval from Administration.
High School Job Coach – Expectations
  • Maintain Confidentiality – Protect all student information at all times.
  • Support Student Documentation – Remind students to complete time sheets, collect evaluations from supervisors, and track their daily checklists.
  • Daily Progress Tracking – Take clear, accurate notes on each student's accomplishments and areas for improvement. Some students may have more data tracking goals than others.
  • Assist with Instruction – Help with lessons as directed by the teacher or Transition Facilitator.
  • Communication Protocol – For any job‑site issues, call Matt or Amanda first; they will follow up with the employer as needed. If you have questions or concerns outside of school hours, please email Matt or Amanda.
  • Encourage Independent Learning – Allow students to learn through experience, including making mistakes. Correct errors kindly, and maintain patience at all times.
