Royal Valley USD#337 is thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity for a School Nurse to join our team for the 2026-27 school year. While we prefer candidates with an RN qualification, we are also open to considering LPNs based on their qualifications.
We will be interviewing and filling the position as applications come in.

School Nurse
Qualifications:- Registered Nurse;
Bachelor Degree Nurse (RN), - Demonstrated aptitude for working in a school setting
- Willing to complete school nurse certification requirements through the Kansas State Board of Education
- Carry own professional liability insurance
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable
Reports To: Superintendent
Job Goal: To assist in providing the fullest possible educational opportunity for each district student by minimizing absences due to illness and creating a climate of health and well‑being in district schools.
Performance Responsibilities:- Assists superintendent and building administrators in developing school health programs.
- Arranges school programs of immunization, health assessments, and mandated school screening programs.
- Observes students on a regular basis to detect health needs.
- Maintains up-to-date cumulative health records on all students.
- Reports to parents, school personnel, physicians, clinics, and other agencies on student health matters.
- Visits students’ homes when necessary.
- Assumes authority for the care of a student or staff member who has suffered an injury or emergency illness.
- Administers nursing care in accordance with the Kansas Nurse Practice Act.
- Develops and implements nursing care plans as necessary for individual student needs.
- Instructs and delegates nursing tasks to unlicensed personnel as appropriate according to the Kansas Nurse Practice Act.
- Makes recommendations to superintendent and building administrators on health needs of individual students.
- Supervises and records medication taken by students in accordance with established procedures.
- Implements Board policy on exclusion and re‑admission of students in connection with infectious and contagious diseases.
- Acts as a promoter of health to students, school personnel, parents, and community by providing health education information.
- Participates in inservice training programs.
- Assists school personnel in maintaining sanitary standards in schools.
School year calendar. 7 hours per day. Salary and work year to be determined by the Board.
Evaluation:Done by the superintendent of schools or his designee on an annual basis as per district practice.
