Middle School Instructional Aide/STEM Elective Instructor
This position is open until filled.
Position SummaryThe Middle School Instructional Aide / STEM Elective Instructor supports student learning and achievement through a dual‑role assignment. This position provides instructional support to students and teachers during the school day and leads engaging STEM‑focused elective courses that promote creativity, problem‑solving, collaboration, and critical thinking. The employee works closely with classroom teachers, special education staff, and administrators to support student success while fostering student interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Instructional Support- Assist students individually and in small groups under the direction of certified staff.
- Support the implementation of instructional activities and interventions in general education settings.
- Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers regarding student performance and engagement.
- Reinforce academic and behavioral expectations.
- Assist with accommodations and modifications as directed by teachers and student support teams.
- Supervise students in classrooms, hallways, lunchrooms, and other school settings as assigned.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding student records and information.
- Plan and facilitate STEM elective courses aligned with district goals.
- Create hands‑on learning experiences involving science, technology, engineering, robotics, coding, design thinking, makerspace activities, and problem‑solving.
- Foster a positive and engaging learning environment that encourages innovation and collaboration.
- Manage classroom procedures, equipment, and student behavior during elective classes.
- Assess student participation and learning through projects, presentations, and performance tasks.
- Maintain STEM materials, equipment, and technology resources.
- Collaborate with teachers and administrators to align STEM experiences with school‑wide learning outcomes.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Health certification on file in the Central Office (after employment offer is made).
- Experience working with children and/or teens preferred.
- Experience in using various computers and computer programs.
- Desire to continue career improvement by enhancing skills and job performance.
- Prolonged sitting, standing and/or walking.
- Repetitive motions.
- Physical exertion to manually move, pull, or push heavy objects or materials.
- Ability to lift and carry 40 pounds unassisted.
- Stooping, bending, reaching, kneeling, and turning.
- Frequent work in noisy, crowded, stressful environments with numerous interruptions.
- Must work indoors and outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
- At will.
- Wage and benefits determined annually by the Board of Education.
