School Psychologist Paraprofessional
Qualifications:
- Bachelors Social Work and/or psychology.
- Enjoys working with children.
- Basic skills appropriate to specific employment situations including acceptable communication patterns.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.
- Must have, or be able to obtain, and maintain a valid Kansas driver's license.
- Ability to lift as required by job.
Reports To:
- Executive Director – NKESC
- Director of Special Education and/or Designee-NKESC
- Supervising Teacher and District Administrators
Job Goal:
To work with any student(s) assigned in all school settings.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Carry out specific plans made by licensed personnel for students identified with disabilities.
- Work and interact appropriately with children identified with disabilities.
- Adhere to local and Northwest Kansas Educational Service Center policies.
- Participate in pre-training and in-service as necessary to meet KSDE, NKESC, and local guidelines.
- Prepare requests for materials purchases, duplicating of materials, completing of forms/reports, planning/keeping appointments, and other such duties as determined by supervisor.
- Be able to research materials as needed.
- Be responsible for appropriate data collection necessary for accountability.
- Provide oral and written feedback to appropriate individuals on the performance of the child.
- Assist in screenings as necessary.
- Perform any other duties as directed.
Physical Abilities:
- Exhibit manual dexterity to dial a telephone, to enter data into a computer, to see and read a computer screen and printed materials with or without vision aids; hear and understand speech at normal classroom levels, outdoors and on the telephone; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in normal classrooms, outdoors and on the telephone; and physical agility to reach overhead.
- Ability to move between schools, school buildings and multiple rooms.
- Ability to interact with students that meet their physical, emotional and psychological needs.
Terms of Employment:
Per "Memorandum of Employment Agreement".
Evaluation:
Performance of this job will be evaluated by the Executive Director and/or Designee as per board policy.
