Bilingual/ESL Aide
This position involves serving as an aide to the bilingual/ESL teachers. It is their responsibility to assist the certified teacher(s) in providing instruction to individual or small groups of students in a classroom or other learning environment; translate orally and in writing for teachers, administrators, students, and parents; prepare instructional materials; and perform a variety of routine clerical duties as assigned.
Communicate with students in English and a designated second language to facilitate instructional processes; provide translation in parent-teacher conferences or telephone calls with limited or non-English-speaking parents; translate or write notes, letters, and other materials. Repeat and reinforce instruction to assist students' comprehension and understanding; provide more individual assistance to students experiencing learning difficulty; explain errors and answer questions; use games, skits, puppets, and other instructional activities to reinforce the main lesson plan.
Report progress regarding student performance and behavior as required; provide input and assist instructors with determining student advancement through established learning programs. Operate technology to support student learning. Assist students by providing a proper role model, emotional support, patience, a friendly attitude, and general guidance. Confer with teachers concerning programs and materials to meet student needs and disseminate that information to families when requested.
Direct group activities of students as assigned. Participate in meetings, in-service training programs, and field trips as assigned. Maintain regular attendance. Perform other duties as assigned. This is a 7.30-hour-per-day position. The district provides a single health insurance policy along with other benefits.
