Summary:

** Camp Launch Mentors play an essential role in guiding and supporting high school students throughout their educational journey. As role models, motivators, and leaders, mentors help students navigate academic, social, and personal challenges while fostering a positive, inclusive, and enriching Camp Launch environment.
Mentors also play a key part in preparing students for life beyond high school by encouraging college and career exploration, supporting goal-setting, and promoting academic planning and readiness.
This position is ideal for individuals passionate about youth development, education, and leadership. Mentors have the opportunity to make a meaningful and lasting impact by building confidence, inspiring curiosity, and nurturing a strong sense of belonging among high-ability students from diverse backgrounds.

Key Responsibilities
• Serve as a positive role model and mentor for students, fostering a supportive, inclusive, and encouraging atmosphere.
• Maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment at all times.
• Provide ongoing guidance in both academic and non-academic areas to help students overcome challenges and make informed decisions.
• Build strong, trusting relationships that promote students’ confidence, social development, and personal growth.
• Encourage students to set and pursue academic and personal goals, emphasizing resilience, responsibility, and self-advocacy.
• Promote the development of essential college-readiness skills and self-confidence.
• Serve as a resource for questions about high school coursework, extracurricular involvement, and the college application process.
• Collaborate with staff and fellow mentors to maintain a positive, inclusive, and mission-driven program culture.
• Lead and supervise one-on-one and group virtual activities, workshops, and enrichment sessions.
• Support the delivery of educational and recreational programming, including attendance at three required in-person events.
• Ensure that students remain engaged, safe, and actively participating in all activities.
• Observe student behavior, manage conflicts appropriately, and refer concerns as needed.
• Enforce program rules and policies consistently and fairly.
• Work closely with program coordinators to deliver a cohesive and impactful mentorship experience.
• Participate in all required training sessions and staff meetings.
• Serve as a liaison between students and program staff, ensuring effective communication and coordinated support.
