POSITION SUMMARY

The Home Base Early Childhood Coach supports family educators, families, and early childhood professionals in promoting high-quality services for children from birth to age five. The coach provides reflective coaching, professional development, mentoring, and technical assistance to ensure developmentally appropriate practices, positive family engagement, and school readiness outcomes. This position works collaboratively with staff to support children's cognitive, social-emotional, language, physical, and developmental growth through home base programming.

ESSENTIAL

FUNCTIONS Home Base and Child Development Oversight
  • Travel regularly throughout the assigned service area to conduct observations of home visits and provide constructive feedback aligned with program goals and performance standards
  • Evaluate instructional and home-visiting practices and use professional knowledge of early childhood development to recommend individualized, evidence-based coaching strategies. (Practice Based Coaching)
  • Assist staff in planning and implementing developmentally appropriate activities for children aged birth to five
  • Support the use of curriculum, assessments, and screening tools to monitor child progress
  • Promote inclusive practices that address the needs of children with varying developmental abilities
  • Collaborate with staff to identify and address developmental concerns and referrals for additional services
  • Perform Home Visiting Rating Scale (HOVRS) observations to provide reflection, instruction, and goal setting for family educators
Family and Community Engagement
  • Support home visitors in building strong, respectful relationships with families
  • Promote family-centered practices that honor diverse cultures, languages, and family structures
  • Assist staff in coaching parents to serve as their child's first and most important teacher
  • Encourage family participation in goal setting and child development planning
  • Collaborate with community agencies and service providers to support families and children
  • Respect and support cultural differences and diverse family structures
  • Advocate for SEK-CAP, Inc. in the community
Program Implementation and Compliance
  • Monitor implementation of program standards, policies, and procedures
  • Perform all program responsibilities within the parameters of the Head Start Performance Standards mandates, and Kansas Licensing regulations
  • Responsible for reporting any suspected abuse or neglect to appropriate authorities
  • Maintain and assure confidentiality and privacy of SEK-CAP, Inc. customers
Data Management, Training and Professional Development
  • Provide individualized coaching and mentoring to family educators and early childhood staff
  • Utilize reflective coaching practices to improve instructional quality and family engagement strategies
  • Develop and facilitate professional development opportunities, training sessions, and learning communities
  • Support continuous quality improvement efforts through data analysis and goal setting
  • Maintain accurate coaching records, observation notes, and professional development documentation
  • Attend mandatory in-service training and staff meetings
Leadership and Program Support
  • Maintain professionalism and a team structure; serve as a role model for staff, children and parents. Attend all service training as provided
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and orientation of new home visitors as needed
  • Maintain dependable, punctual attendance and adhere to appropriate break times
  • Uphold and promote the core values and mission statement of SEK-CAP, Inc
  • Support management decisions both in actions and words
  • Ability to work unconventional business hours
  • Other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
  • Basic computer skills, must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, data entry, email and digital calendars
  • Basic operation skills of general office equipment such as photocopiers, faxes, and phone systems.
  • Superior interpersonal skills. Ability to get along with diverse personalities. Tactful, mature, and flexible.
