This position is a ten-month position. This position is responsible for working collaboratively with the teacher to maintain a program that includes an organized series of experiences designed to meet the needs of all participating children and assisting and utilizing parents in alternative ways to foster the learning and development of their children. This position will be responsible for transporting and/or monitoring the children to and from school and to and from field trips, as needed.

This position is directly responsible for maintaining adult: child ratio in the classroom. This position will work with the Teacher and is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the classroom, assisting teaching a classroom of 15-20 three- to five-year-old children. Work is performed under the supervision of the Area Manager, and reviewed through regular supervision, reports, and program achievements.

• Clean classroom areas the children use daily.
• Daily Child Observations-observe and take notes while in class with children. Enter these observations after class or as soon as possible to capture the observations.
• Learning Genie. Upload: pictures, happenings, funny kid quotes, reminders for In Kind, Helpful Hints, Classroom Activities, Extension Activities, Homework, In Kind tutorials, Virtual Field Trips, etc.
• Maintain dependable, punctual attendance. Adhere to appropriate break times.
• Read lesson plans daily, be ready and willing to teach when needed or decided (per Teacher’s request).
• Responsible for active supervision during the times the children are present in the classroom, playground, on field trips and family engagement activities.
• Report any suspected child/adult abuse or neglect to appropriate authority.
• Responsible to make certain all KDHE licensing accident/incident reports are filled out and reported to the AM, so they are scanned on the day they occur in COPA and inputted. A copy goes to the Parent to sign and return, and another for them to keep.
• Maintain and assure confidentiality and privacy of NEK-CAP, Inc. and our customers.
• Must always maintain the adult to child ratio of 1-10.
• Help create and develop lesson plans. Teacher will assign who will be developing each section of lesson plans.
• Gather needed materials for the lesson plans and complete all other prep work and be ready to implement the lesson plans.
• Change classroom toys out. Clean and wipe down toys before they are put away. Add new toys to the classroom, add new pictures, take pictures, if necessary, on shelves to label as needed.
• Change Library books. Clean and wipe down books before you put them away. Add new books to the library. At least 1 book per child in the classroom.
• Set up developmentally appropriate classroom(s) environments based on the Curriculum and Head Start Program Performance Standards using the Fidelity tool of the Curriculum and your site Education Manager.
• All staff must review Children’s Orientation paperwork including Health Assessment, immunization records Contact and release form, IHP and INHP, prior to them entering the center. Complete any required health related trainings.
• Labeling in the classroom, walls, doors, shelves. Toys labeled on shelves with pictures attached by velcro. Cubbies and/or hooks, art box, mailbox, seats at meals and bus and cubbies labeled.
• Job charts, Wish you well board, safe keeper box, family board, and any other Conscious Discipline tools needed.
• Prepare new toothbrushes and label with each child’s name.
