Purpose
This position is for an individual who wants to learn the field of power generation at Liberty’s electric power plants. It includes a 2‑year learning period with periodic testing to develop fundamentals of power generation and hands‑on experience with plant personnel. The applicant must possess the skills listed in the Education and Experience section and a willingness to learn additional skills.
Accountabilities- Safety is a core value; all employees must comply with safety policies and stop or refuse unsafe work practices.
- Must pass the EEI POSS test.
- Required to successfully complete the 2‑year Energy Supply Apprentice Training Program.
- Already possess, or be able to learn, the basic understandings of chemistry, physics, electricity, and mathematics.
- Ability to read and understand P&IDs, logic diagrams, drawings, and schematics.
- Capable of learning, understanding, filling out, and using Lockout‑Tagout (LOTO), confined space, hot work, and other plant procedures.
- Willingness to learn and perform in a successful team environment.
- Ability to work a rotating shift schedule, including 12‑hour shifts.
- Ability to develop the skills necessary to operate and maintain the power plant.
- Excellent communication and writing skills.
- Basic computer proficiency using Windows and database applications.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- HS diploma or equivalent required.
- Technical degree or equivalent, 2 years of industrial maintenance experience in electronics or power electrician required.
- Multi‑disciplined position: mechanical maintenance (including machining and welding) and Steam Plant Operator Experience required.
- Experience in a team‑based environment is preferred.
- Preference for individuals with military service training, technical training, or other professional training in electronics, electrical I&C, machinists, or MIG/TIG/Stick welding.
