Job Title: Lead Process Manufacturing Engineer Location: Kansas Duration: 1 Year Work Type: Fully Onsite Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior Manufacturing Process Engineer to support manufacturing operations within a regulated medical device environment. This is a high-impact role focused on driving operational excellence and continuous improvement initiatives across the site, with strong visibility to leadership.
The ideal candidate will bring hands‑on experience leading Lean initiatives end-to-end, conducting root cause investigations tied to operational failures and customer complaints, and improving adoption of standardized work practices across cross‑functional teams.
Key Responsibilities- Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement
- Lead site-wide Lean initiatives, including 5S implementation and sustainment.
- Drive continuous improvement efforts across manufacturing operations.
- Identify opportunities to enhance productivity, quality, delivery, and cost performance.
- Standardize processes and ensure strong adoption of best practices across departments.
- Lead root cause investigations related to operational failures, non‑conformances, and customer complaints.
- Utilize structured problem‑solving methodologies (e.g., 5‑Why, Fishbone, DMAIC).
- Develop and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Monitor the effectiveness of corrective actions to ensure sustained improvements.
- Coach and mentor cross‑functional teams and site leaders through Lean transformation initiatives.
- Drive cultural change toward accountability, data‑driven decision‑making, and process discipline.
- Collaborate closely with operations, quality, engineering, and leadership teams.
- Present findings, progress updates, and improvement metrics to site leadership.
- Develop, refine, and improve standard work documentation.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and quality system requirements.
- Promote best practices within a regulated manufacturing environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
- Significant experience in manufacturing process engineering within a regulated industry (medical device preferred).
- Demonstrated experience leading Lean and 5S initiatives from planning through sustainment
- Strong background in root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
- Proven ability to lead operational excellence programs and drive measurable improvements.
- Experience coaching teams and leading change management efforts.
- Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence at multiple organizational levels.
- Experience in medical device manufacturing.
- Certification in Lean, Six Sigma, or similar continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience supporting customer complaint investigations and quality improvement initiatives.
