Introduction:
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT), Division of Transportation System Development (DTSD) is recruiting a Utility Specialist (Transportation Specialist Advanced) for its Southwest Team. This full‑time permanent position can be headquartered out of Madison or LaCrosse, WI. The role includes a hybrid work schedule with at least two days per week in a WF office and telework from within Wisconsin.

This position serves as the Utility Specialist for Major Projects in the Southwest Region Technical Services Section, performing liaison and coordination activities performed by utility engineers. The role includes scheduling and tracking workload for all designated Interstate project activities, engaging in utility conflict resolution, and monitoring submission of utility documents to central office.
Work requires knowledge and understanding of project plan development, tracking systems (Transportation Utility Management Systems (TUMS), program controls with Milestone Reports, Full Production, and Critical Project and PS&E Trak).
Salary InformationSchedule‑range (14‑13) with an annual salary of $68,640 – $91,520, plus benefits. Twelve‑month probationary period. Pay for current state employees will follow the Wisconsin State Compensation Plan.

- Experience managing multiple project schedules, tracking progress, developing work schedules, participating in production and critical project meetings, identifying and resolving schedule issues, conducting field inspections, and overseeing construction activities.
- Experience in transportation‑related projects, including contractor oversight during construction, utility coordination, design and construction processes, and interpreting plats for transportation or utility‑based initiatives.
