Piping Designer (CADWorx)

Join a collaborative engineering team where your designs directly impact real-world industrial projects. As a Piping Designer, you'll be responsible for developing precise piping layouts and models using AutoCAD and CADWorx, supporting projects from concept through construction. This role offers a mix of office-based design work and hands-on field exposure, giving you the opportunity to validate your work on-site and collaborate closely with engineers, drafters, and project teams.
We're looking for someone who is detail-driven, self-sufficient, and thrives in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high accuracy and quality.
Key Responsibilities- Design and draft 2D and 3D piping systems, including layouts, isometrics, and construction drawings
- Interpret P&IDs to develop accurate, constructible models
- Create and maintain bill of materials (BOMs), line lists, and tie-in lists
- Perform field walk-downs, take measurements, and develop field sketches
- Build equipment and piping models based on vendor drawings and specifications
- Utilize point cloud/laser scan data to generate highly accurate models
- Coordinate with structural and stress engineers to ensure design integrity and compliance
- Review and incorporate piping stress analysis results into designs
- Participate in design reviews, P&, and project meetings
- Mentor junior designers and review work for accuracy and quality
- Track progress against project schedules and man-hour estimates
- Ensure designs meet safety, constructability, operability, and maintainability standards
Required:
- Associate or Technical degree (Bachelor's preferred)
- Proven experience in piping design within an industrial environment
- Strong 3D modeling experience
- Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D and 3D)
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and P&IDs
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Preferred:
- Experience with CADWorx Plant Professional
- Familiarity with ReCap and point cloud modeling
- Knowledge of AISC and ASTM standards
- Understanding of construction, fabrication, and installation practices
- Experience working in both field and office settings

This is a Contract position based out of Colwich, KS.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $60.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
