We're partnering with a global food infrastructure company to hire a Project Engineer to lead and execute capital and process improvement projects within a manufacturing environment. This role plays a critical part in driving operational efficiency, supporting production growth, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
Responsibilities- Lead end-to-end execution of capital and process improvement projects
- Define project scope, timelines, budgets, and deliverables aligned with business objectives
- Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, maintenance, quality, and supply chain teams
- Oversee equipment selection, procurement, installation, and commissioning
- Ensure adherence to safety, quality, and regulatory standards
- Monitor project progress, manage risks, and communicate updates to stakeholders
- Identify opportunities to improve manufacturing efficiency and reduce costs
- Support new product introductions and facility layout changes
- Maintain detailed project documentation including schedules, budgets, and specifications
- Manage relationships with external vendors, contractors, and engineering partners
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or related)
- 3–7+ years of experience in project engineering within a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Proven experience managing capital projects from concept through completion
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes (e.g., fabrication, welding, or similar)
- Experience with budgeting, scheduling, and resource planning
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement methodologies
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- PMP certification or formal project management training is an asset
- Experience with automation or equipment integration projects is preferred
- CAD or engineering design experience is an asset
- Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations in manufacturing environments
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams)
- Experience with ERP systems and engineering data management tools (EPDM or similar)
- Manufacturing facility with regular exposure to the production floor
- Exposure to machinery, noise, and varying temperatures
- Occasional travel may be required
- Adhere to Environmental, Health & Safety policies and procedures
- Report unsafe conditions, incidents, or hazards promptly
- Use required personal protective equipment (PPE) in manufacturing settings
