Role DescriptionWe’re hiring an experienced Control Systems Engineer / PLC Programmer to join our team. In this hands‑on role, you’ll design, program, commission and provide support for advanced control systems for our industrial clients. You’ll take projects from functional specifications all the way to successful completion – going well beyond basic PLC programming to deliver complete, reliable solutions. The position is ideal for a self‑starter and problem solver who enjoys staying current with automation technology.
While we are based in the Kansas City area, projects take us nationwide.
- Collaborate with clients to gather requirements and deliver tailored, high‑performance control solutions.
- Design, develop, and implement control system architectures.
- Program PLCs (primarily Allen‑Bradley Studio 5000/Control Logix), HMIs, and SCADA systems.
- Perform system integration, testing, commissioning, and startup at client sites.
- Create and maintain technical documentation (schematics, wiring diagrams, manuals, etc.).
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues with automation equipment, networks, and communications.
- Provide ongoing technical support and training to clients and internal teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, controls engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3+ years of hands‑on experience in controls system integration, preferably with a systems integrator.
- Strong proficiency with Rockwell Automation platforms (Studio 5000, Factory Talk View, etc.). Experience with others is a plus.
- Experience with HMI/SCADA platforms (Ignition, AVEVA System Platform, AVEVA Plant SCADA, FTView, etc.).
- Solid understanding of industrial networks, protocols (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, etc.), instrumentation, and electrical design standards.
- Background in industrial automation, controls engineering, or related field.
- Relevant technical degree or equivalent practical experience in electrical, controls, or systems engineering.
- Comfort working on‑site in industrial environments.
- Willingness to travel to client sites (typically 30‑50%).
- Strong problem‑solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
