Position: Speech Language Pathologist (PRN)
Location: Maize

We are seeking a Speech Language Pathologist (PRN) for the 24‑25 school year.

Essential Functions
  • Assesses students’ communication skills (articulation, fluency, voice, expressive and receptive language, etc.) to identify communication disorders, determine program eligibility, and develop treatment recommendations.
  • Collaborates with parents, teachers, physicians, administration, team members, and other professionals to communicate information, resolve issues, and provide services in compliance with established guidelines.
  • Co‑ordinates meetings and processes for eligible students (e.g., testing and screening, IEPs, parent conferences, pre‑referral staffing), presents evaluation results, develops treatment plans, and provides training to parents, students, and staff.
  • Develops individual educational plans, interventions, and educational materials to minimize the adverse impact of communication disorders in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Interprets medical reports to inform treatment and intervention plans within the scope of the Speech Language Pathologist’s experience.
  • Maintains files and records (progress reports, activity logs, billing information, treatment plans, quarterly reports, screening results, etc.) to ensure information availability and compliance.
  • Participates in meetings, workshops, and seminars (training, IEPs, team meetings, general education intervention meetings) to convey and gather information.
  • Prepares written materials (activity logs, correspondence, memos, educational plans, Medicaid billings, reports, progress reports, etc.) to document activities and provide written references.
  • Provides speech and language therapy to students to minimize the adverse impact of speech and language disorders on student success.
  • Provides itinerant services at multiple work sites and delivers therapy and assistance as required.
  • Researches resources and methods (intervention and therapy techniques, assessment tools, community resources) and determines the appropriate approach for addressing students’ needs.
  • Responds to inquiries (parents, teachers, staff, students), resolves problems, provides information, and makes referrals to appropriate personnel.
  • Schedules student speech‑language therapy intervention sessions and directs services efficiently and timely.
  • Supervises paraprofessionals and/or speech assistants, monitoring performance and supporting the overall objectives of the instructional program to impact student success.
  • Transports supplies and equipment to various sites and ensures availability of items as needed.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
Minimum

Job Requirements
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply assessment instruments.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment and software applications.
  • Ability to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, ratios, and percentages.
  • Ability to organize work, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to read technical information, compose a variety of documents, facilitate group discussions, and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions.
  • Knowledge of appropriate codes, policies, regulations, and laws.
  • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology of speech and hearing mechanisms and disorders, and principles and practices of speech and language therapy.
  • Ability to utilize specialized equipment in communication disorders.
  • Ability to gather, collate, and classify data, and translate therapy data into meaningful educational activities.
  • Ability to communicate with tact and patience.
