Cardiovascular Medical Instrument Technician
Serves in a multi-role (scrub; monitor; circulator; instructor; equipment, supply and budget) capacity as a Cardiovascular Medical Instrument Technician.
Identifies and selects patient/procedure-specific catheters, supplies, equipment, contrast medium, and volume to meet the requirements of the procedure.
Sets up sterile field. Monitors and ensures compliance with aseptic technique and radiation safety principles.
Responsible for required daily maintenance and preventive maintenance of cine processing equipment.
Notifies the operating cardiologists of the procedure status, the current patient condition, and other vital information that may affect the procedure.
Operates defibrillator and pacemaker generator as well as radiographic contrast injector, cardiac output, intravascular ultrasound, angiojet, rotablator, pressure wire, and intra-aortic balloon pump consoles.
Applies noninvasive cardiovascular techniques of electrocardiography (12-lead ECG) and assists with synchronized cardioversion and transcutaneous pacing.
Operates an interactive computerized digital subtraction angiographic system in order to produce coronary and left ventricular graphic images, and to perform pulmonary, aortic, and peripheral arterial imaging.
Ensures that the lab has adequate supplies for all procedures performed.
