Your Role as the Certified Medication Aide (CMA)

Americare Senior Living is seeking a dedicated Certified Medication Aide (CMA) to provide safe, accurate medication administration and compassionate resident care within our skilled nursing community.

Summary

The Certified Medication Aide (CMA) is responsible for administering prescribed medications and supporting residents with activities of daily living in accordance with state regulations, physician orders, and Americare policies. This role works as part of the interdisciplinary care team to promote resident safety, accurate documentation, and person-centered care in a skilled nursing setting.

What You’ll Do
  • Administer prescribed medications under the supervision of licensed nursing staff
  • Verify resident identity prior to medication administration and document dosage, time, and observations
  • Monitor residents for medication responses and promptly report adverse reactions or concerns
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, meals, and mobility
  • Recognize and report changes in resident condition to charge staff
  • Take and record vital signs, reporting abnormalities per facility policy
  • Identify medication shortages and immediately report concerns to the supervisor
  • Maintain accurate documentation related to resident care, intake, and output as ordered
  • Support coworkers by providing assistance as needed
  • Complete admission, discharge, and transfer documentation as required
Qualifications
  • Must be at least 16 years of age
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Completion of a Certified Medication Aide (CMA) course approved by the State of Kansas
  • Active CMA certification in good standing, with annual updates as required

Physical Demands
  • Lift up to 25 lbs. and assist with resident transfers as needed
  • Push, pull, and maneuver up to 100 lbs., including resident mobility assistance
  • Maneuver resident wheelchairs weighing up to 350 lbs.
Safety Requirements
  • Follow proper resident care procedures, including two-person lifts when required
  • Utilize required PPE to prevent exposure to blood borne pathogens
  • Report work-related injuries immediately and complete required documentation
  • Participate in company drug testing procedures

This role is performed in an indoor skilled nursing environment with appropriate lighting and ventilation. Duties may occasionally include accompanying residents to outdoor or community activities as appropriate.
