Location: Buhler
The Certified Medication Assistant (CMA) at SMRC is responsible for safely administering medications and supporting residents with daily living activities. The CMA helps ensure residents maintain dignity, comfort, and quality of life in a home-like environment.
Certified Medication Aides work in collaboration with registered nurses. Certified Medication Aides are expected to perform basic CNA duties as needed.
The primary purpose of the job position of a Certified Medication Aide is to dispense resident medications as ordered by the physician following standard of practice for medication administration.

The desired minimum requirements necessary to effectively perform position responsibilities include a certificate as a Nurse Aide from an accredited educational provider; a certificate as a Medication Aide from an accredited educational provider; excellent leadership skills or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience, and respect for the principles of resident rights, confidentiality, EEO and ADAMust possess a current, unencumbered, active certification to practice as a Certified Nurse Aide and Certified Medication Aide in Kansas.
Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with residents, family members, visitors, co-workers and other facility personnel, government agencies/personnel, and the general public
Must have knowledge and understanding of dementia and dementia care
Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to long-term care
Must be willing to work harmoniously with professional and non-professional personnel
Must possess the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies and procedures, etc., that are necessary for providing quality care
Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as the willingness to handle difficult residents
Must be willing to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing nursing assistant practices
Must be able to relate information concerning a resident’s condition
