- Office hours:
Monday‑Friday 7:30 am‑6:00 pm;
Saturday 8:00 am‑12:00 pm - Flexible scheduling required – may need to work within the stated hours or occasionally earlier/later shifts.
An Optometric Technician assists an optometrist in delivering a world‑class patient experience, performing initial testing and supporting clinical operations.
Responsibilities- Facilitate patient flow and build relationships with all patients while delivering medical support.
- Greet patients promptly, maintain a professional attitude, and ensure a positive experience.
- Comply with all company policies, including HIPAA, and maintain accurate documentation.
- Operate and clean manual and automated optical equipment (lensometer, auto‑lensometer, autorefractor, retinal camera, visual field, etc.).
- Assist the doctor with preliminary testing and equipment setup as required.
- Verify medical and vision insurance information.
- Communicate effectively with patients, doctors, and managers via phone, email, and in‑person requests.
- Maintain a clean and organized examination area and perform general office duties as assigned.
- Demonstrate initiative and team orientation to support practice goals.
- Be available for extended or weekend shifts as business needs dictate.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent (Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Healthcare Management preferred).
- Favorable background check and proof of identity and right to work in the United States.
- Basic computer skills: proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Strong customer‑service skills and the ability to communicate fluently in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Logical and critical‑thinking abilities; detail oriented; reliable and punctual.
- Positive attitude and flexibility in accepting work assignments and priorities.
- Knowledge of HIPAA guidelines and state/federal regulations related to optometry.
- Physical ability to perform tasks such as bending, carrying, climbing, lifting, and standing for extended periods.
- Previous medical office or optometric experience strongly preferred.
- Minimum of one year in a customer‑facing role.
- Travel to other site locations may be necessary; must have reliable transportation and a clean driving record.
- Exposure to blood or bodily fluids, cleaning supplies, and normal office equipment.
