Job Description:
Non-Certified Medical Assistant
Shift: Monday - Friday, 8am to 430pm
Rotating days between Ottawa and Wellsville Clinics
Job Description
Assists the physician in providing medical care to patients of various ages according to the policy of individual practice, in accordance with professional standards and hospital policies and procedures. Responsible for helping practice and physician achieve all meaningful use measures. Demonstrates effective use and support of the Customer and Superior Service Standards, within the hospital and physician office settings, at all times.
Functions under the supervision of the physician and the Practice Manager/Office Supervisor.
Key Responsibilities
* Organizes and reviews incoming test results and forwards them to the physician, tracking impending test results and following up with patients as needed.
* Recognizes and responds to emergencies.
* Performs tests and prepares specimens for outside lab testing as ordered by the physician.
* Maintains examination rooms and treatment areas, ensuring cleanliness and readiness.
* Manages inventory of clinical supplies, bio-hazardous waste, and sample medications, ensuring proper labeling, disposal, and sterilization of instruments.
* Prepares and assists patients for examinations, procedures, and treatments.
* Maintains medication and immunization records. Other duties as assigned.
* Schedules inpatient/outpatient admissions and procedures, providing cross-training and relief for other staff members as needed.
* Performs initial and ongoing assessment of patients using established guidelines.
Education:
* High School Grad or Equivalent [Required]
Field of Study:
* High School Grad or Equivalent [Required]
Work Experience:
* 1+ work experience [Preferred]
Licenses and
Certifications:
* Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]
* If non-certified, will be required to complete MA program through Advent Health University within 90 days of hire.
