The Patient Services Representative is responsible for accurately and efficiently registering patients for services s includes collecting and verifying patient information, obtaining necessary documentation, and ensuring compliance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements. The Patient Services Representative provides excellent customer service to patients, families, and staff while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:- Greet patients and visitors in a courteous and professional manner.
- Register patients by obtaining and verifying demographic, insurance, and financial information.
- Explain hospital policies, financial responsibilities, and consent forms to patients.
- Ensure all necessary paperwork is completed, signed, and scanned into the system.
- Verify insurance eligibility and obtain pre-authorizations as required.
- Collect co-pays, deductibles, and other patient payments at the time of service.
- Accurately enter patient information into the hospital’s electronic health record (EHR) system.
- Coordinate with clinical and business office staff to facilitate efficient patient flow.
- Maintain knowledge of hospital services, insurance guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
- Handle patient inquiries and resolve registration-related issues.
- Protect patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Assist with other clerical duties as needed, including filing, faxing, and answering phones.
- Previous experience in a medical office, hospital registration, or customer service preferred.
- Knowledge of insurance policies, billing practices, and medical terminology is a plus.
- Strong computer skills and proficiency in data entry.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle stressful situations and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and documentation.
- Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times.
- Knowledge of CPSI/Trubridge preferred.
