Respiratory Therapy Supervisor

It will be the Respiratory Therapy Supervisor’s primary responsibility to lead all clinical and administrative functions of the Respiratory Therapy service line to maximize overall hospital performance; resulting in quality outcomes that coordinate with the mission, vision, and values of the hospital.

Required:

• Current Kansas Registered Respiratory Therapist Licensure.
• Graduate of an AMA-approved School of Respiratory Therapy.
• Current CPR, BLS, ACLS and NRP certification.
• Must hold a license through NBRC.
• Must have knowledge in the following areas: pulmonary function tests, electroencephalograms, and pulmonary rehab.
• Sleep disorder specialist experience preferred.

• Plan, organizes, directs, and controls the activities involved in providing respiratory care services for the facility.
• Participates in the development of the department budget in conjunction with established goals and objectives.
• Plays a key role in ensuring budgetary goals are met on an annual basis.
• Provides leadership for respiratory staff and the patient care team to support high quality care of patients and families.
• Assess patient, their needs and ability to tolerate treatment and reassessment for response to treatment.
• Develop and implement patient care delivery systems that are patient and family centered, evidence based, and encourage professional practice of staff that results in high quality and cost-effective care outcomes.
• Participate in the development, implementation, evaluation, and revision of delegation protocols, policies and procedures, and standard of care guidelines.
• Planning, implementation and marketing of services that meet the needs identified internal and external customers.
• Manage and operate equipment safely and correctly. Inspect and test respiratory therapy equipment to ensure it is functioning safely and efficiently.
• Formulate a teaching plan based on identified learning needs of the patient and evaluate effectiveness of learning; including patient’s family in learning as appropriate.
• Consult other departments, when appropriate, to discuss patient care and performance improvement activities.
• Responsible for assuring hospital compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and accrediting organization standards.

This position will include initial and ongoing training in dealing with infection control. Training could include, but is not limited to, blood-borne pathogens, bodily fluids, and biohazardous materials, as it appliesto your daily work environment.
