Position

Summary

Baker University is seeking an agile HR professional who will be responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level. The HR Generalist will apply their expertise to help enhance organizational effectiveness in the following HR functional areas: administration, recruitment, onboarding, training, performance management, policy implementation and employment law compliance.

Essential Functions and Primary Duties
  • Serves as a primary point of contact for day-to-day HR related matters ensuring all questions or concerns are followed through from beginning to end with appropriate resolution while adhering to company policies and procedures.
  • Manage new hire onboarding and orientation to include background checks, I-9’s, trainings and welcoming new employees to Baker University.
  • Administer employee benefits programs including retirement plans, medical, dental, vision plans, voluntary insurance, and wellness programs.
  • Oversees payroll process and all payroll functions including employee information, timecards, rate changes, deductions, and tax information
  • Provide support in a performance appraisal system that helps develop talent and creates a positive workplace culture.
  • Maintain company wide training program database and develop an education program to ensure that all employees are familiar with job responsibilities in addition to applicable safety requirements.
  • Ensure confidentiality of employee files, salary information, disability information, personal issues, disciplinary actions, investigations, terminations, recruitment information, and health benefits data.
  • Partner with HR leadership on initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy. Engage, motivate, and preserve human capital to support current and future business needs.
  • Maintain our Policy and Procedure Manual and Employee Handbook.
  • Manage organization wide records and reports.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Management, Psychology Education or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years' work experience in the Human Resources field.
  • Experience with payroll processing and timekeeping
  • Exposure to benefits administration such as employee education, open enrollment and basic issue resolution.
  • Knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
  • Solid experience with HRIS platforms and related system functionality.

  • Evening and weekend work could be required based on business need.
  • Ability to travel 10% to multiple locations based on business need.
