The Web Services and Digital Strategy Coordinator leads the strategy, governance, operation, security coordination, accessibility and continuous improvement of the district's public-facing digital ecosystem, including the district website, school websites, web-based communication platforms and related third-party services.
The position serves as the district's digital product owner and subject-matter expert, translating organizational priorities into accessible, secure, reliable, and user-centered digital services. The coordinator advises executive leadership, directs cross-functional digital initiatives, establishes district wide standards and uses data to improve public access, engagement, transparency, enrollment, recruitment and operational effectiveness.
This role requires advanced technical knowledge, strategic communications expertise, project and vendor management experience, strong judgment and the ability to lead work across departments and schools.
We
- Develop and implement a multi-year digital communications and web-services strategy aligned with the district strategic plan, audience analytics, Board priorities, community engagement goals, enrollment objectives and workforce recruitment needs.
- Establish and enforce district wide governance standards for content ownership, publishing authority, quality assurance, branding, accessibility, records retention, privacy and content lifecycle management.
- Serve as the district's principal advisor on website governance, digital experience, emerging technologies, accessibility requirements and public-facing digital services.
- Develop annual goals, service standards, implementation roadmaps and performance measures for the district's digital platforms.
- Own the district's content management system and public web environment, including the district site and all school-based sites.
- Lead planning, design, configuration, testing, deployment and continuous improvement of district web properties, ensuring intuitive information architecture and consistent user experience.
- Manage Content Management System (CMS) architecture, templates, user roles, permissions, workflows, integrations and administrative settings.
- Lead major website redesigns as needed, platform migrations, search improvements, mobile optimization and implementation of new digital services.
- Maintain a documented roadmap and prioritized backlog for enhancements, accessibility remediation, technical debt and user-requested improvements.
- Lead district wide compliance with WCAG 2.1 AA, or the current legally required standard, across websites, documents, forms, video and other digital content.
- Develop accessibility testing protocols, remediation plans, staff training, audit schedules and executive reporting on compliance risk and progress.
- Coordinate with Communications, Technology, other departments and schools to ensure public-facing digital services comply with applicable ADA, Section 504, FERPA, COPPA, copyright, privacy, public records and records-retention requirements.
- Maintain procedures for responding to accessibility concerns, legal notices, takedown requests, privacy incidents and other web-related risks.
- Partner with Technology and CMS to protect public-facing systems through access controls, security reviews, vulnerability remediation, patching, backup validation, monitoring and incident-response procedures.
- Ensure website availability, performance, data integrity, disaster recovery readiness and continuity of critical public information during outages or emergencies.
- Coordinate integrations with enterprise systems such as calendars, Board management, transportation, payment, employment, enrollment, translation and emergency-notification platforms.
- Troubleshoot complex platform and integration issues, coordinate escalation and ensure timely resolution with internal teams and vendors.
- Develop and enforce content standards, editorial calendars, style guidance, approval workflows and publishing expectations for district and school websites.
- Collaborate with Communications, Human Resources, Student Enrollment, Academics, Operations and schools on digital campaigns supporting strategic initiatives, recruitment, enrollment, family engagement and community transparency.
- Serve as lead web administrator during emergencies, weather events, school closures and other time-sensitive situations requiring rapid, accurate and coordinated public communication.
