The Role
This position coordinates activities involved with procuring goods and services such as raw materials, equipment, tools, parts and supplies. This job requires strong communication, interpersonal and team building skills to support the objectives of the organization. Key Responsibilities- Reviews requisitions.
- Confers with suppliers to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule.
- Selects products for purchase that meet specification and quality standards.
- Communicates commodity cost information to other departments for internal pricing considerations.
- Determines method of procurement such as system contracts and blanket orders.
- Prepares purchase orders or bid requests.
- Reviews bid proposals and negotiates contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authority.
- Analyzes procurement records such as supplier on time performance and quality levels to ensure an adequate supplier base is present.
- Discusses defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, users, suppliers and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action.
- Supports and participates in a continuous improvement process relating to all aspects of procurement and supplier interface.
- Expedites delivery of goods to users.
- Works with Production Teams regarding proper schedules or reschedules.
- Coordinates outsourcing requirements with various Mangers of Production Teams.
- Ensure that Engineering Change Notices are properly implemented and that suppliers are notified timely.
- Prepares reports regarding such elements of performance such as supplier on time delivery performance, cost saving to goals or other data as required.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Manufacturing environment: may be exposed to loud noises, machinery with moving parts.
- Wearing proper personal protective equipment when in production areas (safety glasses & safety shoes)
- Potential for domestic or international travel.
- Bending, stooping, twist, turn, sitting for extended time periods, reaching, climbing stairs, and lifting 20lbs occasionally.
- Strong computer skills.
- Must be able to work in a team environment.
- Keep proprietary and company information confidential in compliance with employee agreement.
- Ability to understand and effectively communicate in the English language.
- Be 18 years of age or older.
- High school diploma.
- Drug/alcohol screening required.
- Must be willing and able to work and accept varying shifts and schedules
- Self-motivated.
- Technical degree
