Rock Creek School District has several immediate openings for Custodians.

Responsibilities

Keeps building and premises, including sidewalks, driveways, and play areas neat and clean at all times.

Regulates heat, ventilation, and air conditioning systems to provide temperatures appropriate to the season and to ensure economical usage of fuel, water, and electricity.

Shovels and treats walks and steps as appropriate.

Checks daily to ensure that all exit doors are accessible and all panic bars are working properly.

Raises the United States and Kansas flags on each school day, and lowers them after school closes.

Sweeps and disinfects classrooms daily, dusts furniture and cleans desks.

Cleans corridors and multipurpose areas after school each day, and during the day when their condition requires it.

Scrubs and disinfects restrooms, gymnasiums, cafeterias, commons, and dressing room floors daily, and cleans all sanitary fixtures and drinking fountains daily.

Washes all windows on both the inside and outside at least twice each year, and more frequently if necessary.

Cleans all whiteboards at least once a week.

Reports major repairs needed and equipment malfunctions promptly to the principal.

Reports immediately to the principal any damage to school property.

Remains on the school premises during school hours, and during non-school hours when the use of the building has been authorized and his/her attendance is required by the principal.

Assumes responsibility for the opening and closing of the building each school day and for determining, before leaving, that all doors and windows are secured, and all lights, except those left on for safety reasons, are turned off unless otherwise directed by the principal.

Keeps an inventory of supplies and equipment. Requisition s such replacements as needed from the Supervisor of Maintenance and Transportation far enough in advance so that they may be delivered in such time as will not hinder the custodian in his/her duties.

Complies with Statutes, regulations, and Board policy procedures for the storage and disposal of trash, rubbish, waste, and hazardous waste.

Will follow a work time schedule to ensure proper cleaning of the facility.

Carries out custodial duties in a manner that does not interfere with the educational program.

Such other duties as may from time to time be assigned to him/her by his/her supervisor.

Shall abide by the District policies, laws of the State of Kansas, Municipalities and the United States.

Physical Requirements

Requires prolonged sitting or standing.

Occasionally requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull or push heavy objects or materials.

Occasional stooping, kneeling, crawling, bending, turning, and reaching.

Occasionally requires climbing and balancing.

Requires working in and around dust, fumes, and odors.

Must work indoors and outdoors year-round.

Must work in noisy and crowded environments.

Requires regular attendance and physical presence at the job.

Terms of Employment

Twelve-month contract from July 1 to June 30. Compensation at an hourly rate,will be adjusted to years of experience. Section 125 benefits available as per Board policy. Vacation, holidays, and leave as per Board policy.

Rock Creek USD 323 is a progressive, growing district with approximately 1,300 students. We are the first school district east of Manhattan and encompass several communities.

Rock Creek has an elementary school in Westmoreland and one in St. George. St. George Elementary completed two new additions in 2014.

We completed anew strength & conditioning facility and a three room addition to Rock Creek High School, spring 2014. A new district office was completed in 2019, and our new middle school opened for the school year. Upgrades to the football stadium were completed fall 2013 and a new softball field was completed for the 2015 season. We also opened our new baseball field on the Rock Creek campus for the 2021 season.

We will have an updated track and field facility for the start of the 2024/2025 school year.

The high school, middle school and district office are located halfway between the communities of Westmoreland & St. George.

Our state assessment scores are among the highest in the state. Our curriculum includes innovative programs at all grade levels and 1:1. Classroom iPad sets at grades K-6, and Chromebooks at grades 7-12.
