Weld Supervisor – 1st Shift – Tipton, KS
Great Plains Manufacturing is seeking an experienced leader to join our team as a 1st Shift Weld Supervisor at our Tipton, KS facility.
This position works Monday through Thursday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with overtime on Fridays, as required.
Primary Duties And Responsibilities- Analyze work orders and blueprints to determine need for supplies and sequence of operations required.
- Plan production operations, establishing priorities and sequences for welding and material handling.
- Interpret specifications and job orders to workers, and assign duties.
- Set up and program welding equipment.
- Inspect work to maintain specified standards and quality.
- Set up machines or make trial welds to make test runs and experimental products.
- Prepare operational schedules and welding activities to ensure production and quality of products meets specifications.
- Interpret company policies to workers and enforce safety regulations.
- Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
- Complete measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
- Train new employees and maintain an appropriate labor-management relationship with subordinates.
- Perform activities of workers supervised.
- Follow all Great Plains and OSHA safety regulations and wears prescribed safety and protective equipment.
- Other duties may be assigned that require other qualifications, physical demands, and/or work environment.
- Minimum 2 years of experience welding in a manufacturing environment
- Ability to perform arc welding by hand
- Management or supervisory experience preferred
- Working knowledge of production processes and methods
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Capability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Basic knowledge of Word Processing, Internet, Email, Spreadsheets, and Software Concepts
