Hormel Foods - 1st shift Shipping Operator
Location:
Alma, KS
Shift: 1st Shift (Monday-Friday, 5:30AM-2PM) The Shipping Operator supports daily production by staging and returning materials, maintaining clean and organized coolers, freezers, and warehouse areas, and assisting with equipment cleaning and material handling. The role also provides shipping coverage, including operating palletizing equipment, completing required documentation accurately, and communicating effectively with team members and supervisors.

Responsibilities
* Assist with daily AM production setup, including transporting meats, spices, and packaging supplies to production lines.
* Return unused materials to the cooler, freezer, or warehouse at the end of second shift.
* Maintain organization and cleanliness of coolers, freezers, and warehouse areas.
* Clean and maintain lifts and other material-handling equipment.
* Provide vacation coverage for the sleeve line shipping position, including loading and warehousing finished goods and operating the robotic palletizer.
* Accurately complete and follow all required paperwork and procedures, ensuring timely and precise production documentation.
* Communicate effectively with team members and leadership to support workflow and production needs.
* Follow all safety guidelines and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
* Utilize AS400 terminals for data entry and production tracking, as applicable.
Qualifications
Required:
* Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment.
* Dependability and consistent attendance are essential
* Strong attention to detail and ability to follow standard operating procedures.
* Perform repetitive hand & wrist motion throughout a shift.
* Lift/push/pull 50+lbs as required (Occasional)
* Twist and bend the body as necessary to perform job related tasks.
* Kneel/squat as necessary to complete job-related tasks.
* Grasping & pinching motions to complete job-related tasks
* Applicants must not now, or at any time in the future, require employer sponsorship for a work visa.
* Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States for any employer.
* Must be 18 years of age or older
Preferred:
* Food/Meat manufacturing experience
* Experience in Shipping/Receiving
* Forklift Expereince in a refrigerated manufacturing setting
Training
* On the Job training provided
Work Environment
* Position requires working in temperatures below 40°F.
* Standing/walking on concrete for a majority of the workday
Compensation & Benefits
* Pay: $21.65 per hour, 1.5 times rate for hours worked over 40 in a week
