Summary:
Shipper Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of shipping service parts, replacement components, and repaired customer units within a manufacturing and service environment. This role ensures accurate, timely processing and shipment of parts orders and repaired products to meet customer service commitments, warranty requirements, and service‑level agreements. The supervisor coordinates closely with repair technicians, inventory control, customer service, and logistics providers to prioritize urgent orders, manage short lead times, and resolve discrepancies.
This position plays a critical role in minimizing downtime for customers by ensuring service parts and repaired units are shipped quickly, accurately, and in compliance with all packaging, documentation, and transportation requirements. In addition, the Parts and Repair Shipment Supervisor leads department personnel, maintains accurate system transactions, enforces safety standards, and drives continuous improvement in shipping accuracy, turnaround time, and overall service performance.
- Supervise daily shipping activities including order picking, packing, labeling, staging, and loading.
- Ensure all shipments are accurate and meet customer specifications.
- Coordinate outbound freight scheduling with carriers and logistics providers.
- Monitor shipping schedules to ensure on‑time deliveries.
- Maintain shipping documentation (BOLs, packing slips, export documents, etc.).
- Supervise, train, and evaluate shipping department employees.
- Promote a safe, organized, and productive work environment.
- Conduct performance reviews and address disciplinary actions as needed.
- Coordinate with warehouse and production teams to ensure product availability.
- Enforce company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
- Ensure proper handling, packing, and securing of materials.
- Maintain compliance with domestic and international shipping regulations.
- Identify opportunities to improve shipping efficiency and reduce costs.
- Knowledge of shipping procedures, freight carriers, and transportation regulations.
- Experience with ERP or warehouse management systems.
- Strong leadership and team‑building skills.
- Excellent organizational and problem‑solving abilities.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
- High school diploma or GED required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 3–5 years of shipping/logistics experience in a manufacturing environment.
- 1–3 years of supervisory experience preferred.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions.
- General math skills required.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uncomplicated written or oral instructions.
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
