Position: Foundry Cleaning Room Lead

Location: This is an on-site located in Norwich, KS.

Employment Type: Full-Time/Hourly – Night shift (7:00p – 5:30a - Sunday to Wednesday)

Farrar Corporation is looking for a skilled cleaning room lead. The lead is responsible for overseeing all post-casting operations including shakeout, knock-off, shot blasting, inspection, and grinding. This role ensures Farrar castings meet all quality standards while maintaining safe, efficient, and consistent production. The cleaning room lead provides hands‑on leadership, directs daily activities, and drives continuous improvement across cleaning room processes.

• Lead and direct cleaning room personnel across all operations including shakeout, knockoff, shot blasting, inspection and grinding
• Coordinate daily workflow to meet production schedules and shipping requirements
• Ensure all castings meet quality specifications before release to next operations or shipment
• Train, coach, and develop team members on proper techniques, safety practices, and quality standards
• Monitor productivity and identify opportunities to improve throughput and reduce bottlenecks
• Maintain and enforce all safety standards, including PPE and equipment operation
• Setup and adjust programs on Sinto Barinders
• Ensure proper operation and basic maintenance of equipment including Hydraulic Wedges, Shot Blast machine, SNAG grinders, and Sinto Barinders
• Troubleshoot process or equipment issues and escalate when necessary
• Work closely with Production, Quality, and Engineering teams to:
  • Address casting defects
  • Implement corrective actions
  • Improve overall casting quality and consistency
• Maintain organization and housekeeping standards in the cleaning room

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• 3–5+ years of foundry experience, preferably in ductile iron
• Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred
• Strong knowledge of:
  • Grinding practices and standards
  • Shot blasting operations
  • Casting defects and inspection methods
  • Experience with automated grinding systems, including Sinto Barinders, strongly preferred
• Ability to read and interpret work instructions, prints, and quality standards

• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Team-oriented mindset with a focus on collaboration and support
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship

• Frequent exposure to heat, dust, noise and industrial equipment
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
• Ability to lift 25-90 pound castings
• Required use of PPE (hard hat, safety glasses, steel toe boots)
