Description SummarySplit and Thin Veneer employees will focus on the production of our veneer product line. Each department will minimize yield and maximize production to meet daily goals. Employees will measure and craft pieces utilizing a variety of tools and equipment supplied by the company. Focus on quality control and efficiency in production will be critical in this role.
ResponsibilitiesUnderstand how the finished product should appear and utilize the resources to produce needed quantities. Must carefully palletize completed product for safe transport. Must exhibit attention to detail and awareness of quality control parameters for all produced products. Must be able to understand and operate all machinery, including splitters, thin veneer flats/corners, tumbler. Must understand and initiate all machine care and preventative maintenance procedures.
Must adhere to all health and safety practices and procedures. Must work to be an excellent teammate exhibiting a willingness to help/train co‑workers as needed. Must work with pace and efficiency without sacrificing quality. Carries out any additional duties as assigned by the plant management team.
- Must have physical strength, hand‑eye coordination, and endurance. Must be able to lift up to 70 lbs.
- Must be willing and able to utilize (or learn to utilize) computer based and mechanical equipment in the workplace.
- Must work well within a team environment. Must be reliable and self‑motivated.
- Must be able to communicate effectively. Ability to speak both English and Spanish can help advancement.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Must be on time and ready to work each workday unless prior management arrangements have been made.
High School Diploma or GED preferred but not required. Employees with specialized skills may advance to new opportunities more quickly. A history including general shop, welding, mechanical drawing, blueprint reading, physics/mathematics, via your education or on‑the‑job training will prove helpful, but is not required.
Classification and AdvancementLevel 1:
Begins to learn stone colors, operate equipment (splitters, thin veneer, pitching, tumbling etc.). Helps with palletizing material. Level 2:
Able to distinguish and identify all stone colors. Understands basic products without any assistance. Learns basic knowledge of machines needed to produce job material. Stays busy and on pace for assigned production goals. Level 3:
Can produce all split and thin veneer products. Understands the planning, raw material availability, production, palletizing, and record turn in for job completion. Department Lead:
Assist department supervisor in scheduling, slabbing, production, palletizing and producing records for entry. Mentors others in department to meet daily goals. Assists in quality control duties to maintain range per job requirements. Able to fill in for supervisor if absent.
