Hormel Foods – General Production Laborer

Location:

Alma, KS

Shift: 2nd Shift (Monday–Friday, 2PM-10:30PM; extended hours and weekends may be required)

The General Laborer supports daily production operations at Alma Foods by performing a variety of manual tasks in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for maintaining product quality, ensuring safe work practices, and keeping production areas clean, organized, and running efficiently.

• Assist with production line activities, including loading, sorting, and packaging products.
• Operate basic manufacturing equipment and tools as trained.
• Monitor product quality and report any defects or concerns immediately.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area in accordance with food safety and OSHA standards.
• Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), safety procedures, and plant policies.
• Support sanitation tasks such as cleaning equipment, floors, and workstations as needed.
• Perform routine material handling, including lifting, moving, and stacking products or supplies.
• Work cooperatively with team members and supervisors to meet production targets.
• Complete any additional tasks assigned by the supervisor to maintain efficient plant operations.

Required:

• Perform repetitive hand & wrist motion throughout a shift.
• Lift/push/pull 50+lbs as required (Occasional)
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and perform physical tasks for extended periods to perform job related tasks.
• Kneel/squat as necessary to complete job-related tasks.
• Grasping & pinching motions to complete job-related tasks
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

• Must be 18 years of age or older

Preferred:

• Prior experience in food handling/manufacturing
• High School diploma or equivalent

• On the Job training provided

• Position requires working in temperatures below 40°F.
• Standing/walking on concrete for a majority of the workday

• Pay: $21.15 per hour plus $1 per hour shift differential for 2nd shift, 1.5 times rate for hours worked over 40 in a week
