Summary
The Burr Bench Operator is responsible for ensuring that all valve components produced in the manufacturing process are free of burrs, sharp edges, or imperfections. The operator will utilize specialized tools and techniques to smooth and finish metal parts, ensuring they meet quality and safety standards for valve production.
Responsibilities- Remove burrs, sharp edges, or any other imperfections from valve parts using hand tools, grinders, or specialized equipment.
- Inspect and evaluate components to ensure that all finished parts meet quality standards. Ensure compliance with tolerances and specifications.
- Follow all safety procedures and guidelines to minimize the risk of accidents, including wearing proper personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of deburring tools, benches, and other equipment to ensure proper functioning and longevity.
- Maintain accurate records of work completed, including parts processed, inspection results, and any issues that arise during the deburring process.
- Work closely with other production team members to ensure timely and efficient production schedules are met. Communicate any issues that may affect production timelines.
- Suggest and participate in process improvements, including improving deburring techniques and tooling efficiency.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or machining environment is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of valve parts and their function is a plus.
- Familiarity with deburring tools (e.g., files, sanders, grinders) and techniques.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, technical drawings and specifications.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to perform precise work.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- Stand or sit for extended periods throughout the workday.
- Perform repetitive hand and wrist movements using hand tools.
- Lift and carry up to 35 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally with assistance.
- Frequently bend, reach, stoop, kneel, and twist.
- Ability to distinguish small defects and accurately read measuring instruments.
- Work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to machine noise, oils, coolants, and metal particles while wearing required personal protective equipment.
- Good vision, including close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to hear and communicate clearly in a manufacturing or office environment.
- Ability to work with or near loud noise (hearing protection may be required).
This position is performed in a manufacturing environment where the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toe footwear, is required. Employees are expected to follow all company environmental, health, and safety policies.
