Role Purpose
The Marketing & Communications Manager will lead the organisation’s marketing, communications, media, digital presence and brand strategy across all services, campaigns and organisational activity.
This strategic and operational leadership role will develop and deliver an organisation-wide marketing and communications strategy that strengthens the organisation’s profile, stakeholder engagement, public voice and impact. The postholder will lead a small, growing team responsible for websites, social media, campaigns, media relations, events, podcasts, branding and creative content, ensuring all communications are accessible, inclusive and aligned with the organisation’s values as a rights-based Disabled People’s Organisation.
The role will champion the authentic voices of disabled people, ensuring lived experience and co-production are reflected throughout the organisation’s communications, campaigns and public engagement.
The role is both strategic and hands‑on, requiring attendance at events, community activities and partnership work across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly to capture and promote the organisation’s work. The postholder will also provide strategic oversight of emerging digital engagement initiatives, including the organisation’s digital peer support platform.
The organisation maintains a significant multi‑channel digital presence across websites, social media and podcast platforms with a reach of 1.73m annually. The Marketing & Communications Manager will maximise the impact, accessibility and effectiveness of these channels to strengthen engagement, influence and organisational reach.
Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership- Develop, implement and review the organisation’s Marketing and Communications Strategy.
- Lead the organisation’s brand, messaging and public profile across all channels.
- Support organisational growth, stakeholder engagement and campaigns through effective marketing and communications.
- Identify opportunities to increase reach, engagement and income generation.
- Ensure all communications reflect the organisation’s values and accessibility standards.
- Champion the meaningful involvement of people with lived experience in shaping campaigns, communications and organisational messaging.
- Contribute to organisational planning and strategic development as a member of the management team.
- Lead, supervise and develop the Marketing & Communications Team.
- Provide regular supervision, appraisal, coaching and performance management.
- Plan workloads, allocate projects and manage competing priorities.
- Develop effective systems and processes to support campaign delivery and project management.
- Support recruitment, induction and future workforce planning.
- Foster a collaborative, creative and high‑performing team culture.
- Lead integrated marketing and communications campaigns across the organisation.
- Promote services, projects, events and partnerships.
- Maintain consistent branding, messaging and accessibility across all communications.
- Coordinate marketing activity across departments.
- Monitor campaign performance using analytics and engagement data.
- Oversee the organisation’s websites, social media and digital platforms.
- Lead digital content strategy across all relevant channels.
- Ensure websites remain accessible, engaging and aligned with SEO best practice.
- Monitor digital trends, AI tools and emerging technologies to improve engagement and efficiency.
- Oversee digital advertising and audience growth.
- Provide strategic oversight of the organisation’s digital peer support platform.
- Work with colleagues, developers and stakeholders to maximise engagement and accessibility.
- Lead promotional activity and support ongoing platform development through analytics and user feedback.
- Ensure all digital engagement reflects inclusive and rights‑based practice.
- Lead media relations and external communications.
