Positions is located in BSU, hours will vary. Position will work weekend and holidays. A negative drug screen is required as a condition of employment.

The purpose of the Mental Health Developmental Disability Technician position is to provide direct services and supports to the people who live at PSH so that they can achieve personal growth and well-being, realize choice, attain full inclusion and celebrate their individuality.

The essential functions of this position require physical strength to frequently push, pull, twist, bend, squat, walk, stand for extended periods of time, lift and/or restrain residents with or without assistance and respond to aggressive resident behavior with specific, trained techniques. Must be able to observe and respond to residents in distress.

Completion of an established training program approved by Kansas Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services

Staff who operates a motor vehicle must possess a valid Kansas driver's license.

Positions in this class require that at the time of appointment the selected candidate must take and pass a drug screening test approved by the Division of Personnel Services. Persons hired must also pass a law enforcement security clearance in compliance with policies of the Department of Aging and Disability Services.

Parsons State Hospital is funded in part by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and is subject to requirements bestowed by Federal and State levels of government conditions of participation.
