You’ll Make An Impact

As the Ward Clerk, you serve as the communication hub of the hospital and emergency department, directly impacting patient care by ensuring information flows accurately and efficiently between patients, families, and clinical teams. You organize and prioritize critical patient information that supports nurses, APPs, and physicians in making timely decisions. You also play a vital role in patient outcomes by coordinating air and ground transfers when higher levels of care are needed, helping ensure patients receive the right care without delay.

Your ability to manage communication and logistics helps keep the departing run smoothly and supports safe, effective patient care.

Customer Service
  • Provide customer service by responding to patient call lights in a timely and professional manner.
  • Direct visitors to patient rooms, waiting areas, and other hospital locations as needed.
  • Register patients in the Emergency Room accurately and efficiently to support timely care.
  • Coordinate and arrange patient transfers, ensuring smooth communication and appropriate placement of patients.
Billing Procedures & Accounts Receivables
  • Register hospital and Emergency Room patients accurately and efficiently.
  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail, as patient registration is the first step in the billing process.
  • Ensure patient information is entered correctly to support timely and accurate billing and care coordination.
Inventory & Order Placements
  • Maintain adequate inventory of office supplies at the nurses station to support daily operations.
  • Restock supplies as needed to ensure clinical staff have the necessary resources to perform their duties efficiently.
Policies & Procedures
  • Follow Nursing and Emergency Room policies and procedures to ensure safe and compliant operations.
  • Adheres to patient identification protocols to support accurate and safe care delivery.
  • Follow established admission and transfer workflows to ensure efficient patient movement and coordination of care.
  • Comply with infection prevention and standards to maintain a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
Organizational Support
  • Follow the direction and assignments provided by the Emergency Room Nurse and Charge Nurse during each shift.
  • Collaborate with clinical leadership to support efficient department operations and patient care.
  • Report directly to the ER Director and Director of Nursing for overall supervision and performance expectations.
Requirements Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous hospital or nursing-related experience, such as CNA or PCT preferred.
  • Prior clerical or administrative experience preferred.
  • Basic computer skills and strong attention to detail.
