This is a brief synopsis of overall job duties.

This person provides non-professional direct resident care duties under the supervision of nursing personnel and to assist in maintaining a positive physical, mental, and psychosocial will-being for the residents.

JOB CLASSIFICATION

SUPERVISION

Supervised by: LPN, RN, ADON and DON

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be a Certified Nursing Assistant in good standing and meet all applicable federal and state certification requirements or in training to satisfactorily complete the requirements to become a Certified Nursing Assistant.
  • Must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Completions of elementary education or otherwise show ability to read, write, and follow oral and written directions.
  • Must speak and understand English.
  • Positive attitude toward the elderly.
  • Background Clearance mandatory (TB, Drug Screening, Physical…)
EDUCATION – CERTIFICATES, LICENSES OR REGISTRATIONS

Must be a Certified Nursing Assistant

EXPERIENCE
  • Must have had CNA training in Kansas
  • Must be at least 16 years old

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Personal Care Function Duties
  • Assist resident with bathing, dressing, grooming, dental care, bowel and bladder functions, preparation for medical tests and exams, ear and eye care and positioning in and out of beds, chairs, bathtubs, etc.
Nursing Care Function Duties
  • Provide nursing functions as directed by supervisor including perineal care, catheter care, nail care, turn resident in bed, sponge baths, measure and record temperature, pulse and respirations, weigh and measure residents, perform restorative and rehabilitative procedures and observe and report presence of skin breakdowns; review care plans daily; report changes in resident conditions to supervisor; and, records all necessary charting entries and report all accidents and incidents.
  • Be able to use sit to stand lift and mechanical lifts and know when they are indicated and for what residents.
Food Service Functions Duties
  • Prepare residents for meals and snacks; identify food arrangement and assist in feeding residents as needed; record food and fluid intake for room trays and snacks; and, perform after‑meal resident care.
Residents’ Rights Functions Duties
  • Maintain resident confidentiality; treat residents with kindness, dignity and respect.
  • Know and comply with Residents’ Rights rules; and, promptly report all resident complaints, accidents and incidents to supervisor.
Support Functions Duties
  • Assist as directed in proper admission, transfer and discharge of residents; inventory resident possessions and report food articles and mediation found in resident rooms; and, report defective equipment to maintenance.
Safety and Sanitation Functions Duties
  • Understand and use Universal Precautions and follow established infections control, hazardous communication and other safety rules.
  • Ensure cleanliness of assigned residents; rooms; properly maintain and record residents restraints; and, promptly report all violations of safety and sanitation rules to supervisor.
Staff Development Functions Duties
  • Attend and participate in orientation, training, educational activities and staff meetings.
