- Demonstrates knowledge of nursing principles for residents in a long‑term care setting.
- Practices within the full scope of nursing expertise, applying age‑ and population‑specific standards related to physical and psychosocial needs as outlined in the care plan.
- Performs testing to evaluate resident status and provide necessary care.
- Recognizes problems, recommends solutions, and responds effectively to emergency situations.
- Ensures the health, comfort, and safety of residents.
- Contributes to resident assessment and administers medications or treatments as ordered.
- Provides technical support to healthcare professionals as needed.
- Documents resident interactions and outcomes related to care, medication, behavior, activity, and dietary.
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with residents, healthcare providers, and the public.
- Works effectively with professional and supportive personnel as a member of an interdisciplinary care team.
- Communicates clearly and maintains confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Counsels residents, family members, or advocates on prevention and treatment plans under the direction of a registered nurse, advanced practice provider, or physician.
- Applies resident education principles to develop a self‑care program.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Graduate from an accredited practical nursing program as a Licensed Practical Nurse (associate degree preferred).
- For positions requiring IV therapy/management skills in North Dakota, graduation from a Board‑approved AASPN program that includes IV therapy or completion of an approved IV Therapy course is required.
- Has attended a pre‑licensure nursing program with supervised clinical experience across the lifespan or has a minimum of 400 hours of LPN experience at another facility.
- May have additional education, training, or experience requirements specific to the service or position.
- Currently holds an unencumbered Licensed Practical Nurse license with the State Nursing Board and/or possesses multi‑state licensure privileges.
- Obtains and maintains required department‑specific competencies and certifications.
- Completes required annual continuing education units (CEU) and competency training for the department and facility.
