Job Overview
Travel ER RN – 13‑week assignment in Independence, Kansas.
Responsibilities- Rapidly assess and triage patients upon arrival, prioritizing care based on severity.
- Explain emergency procedures and treatments to patients and families.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments according to standard protocols.
- Prepare equipment and aid physicians during emergency treatments and examinations.
- Monitor patient comfort and safety throughout their time in the emergency department, responding to immediate needs.
- Observe and document patient conditions as required within scope of practice.
- Take and monitor vital signs, using clinical judgment to address deviations and prevent complications.
- Respond to life‑saving situations based on nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Document comprehensive nursing assessments, interventions, and outcomes in electronic medical records (EMR).
- Initiate patient education plans according to individualized needs within the acute care context.
- Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams, including physicians, specialists, paramedics, social workers, and other support staff.
- Perform other duties as assigned within scope of practice.
- Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards.
- One year of recent experience as an ER RN.
- Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations.
- Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC).
- Current ACLS certification (AHA/ARC).
- Current PALS (AHA/ARC) or ENPC certification.
- TNCC, NIHSS, CPI, NRP, and SANE certifications.
- Other relevant certifications or licenses.
- Critical thinking and service excellence.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficient reading, writing, and speaking in English.
- Basic PC skills.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position, move about, lift and move equipment (50–100 lbs), push, pull, and bend.
- Must work effectively with a variety of personnel, maintaining a positive attitude and professionalism.
- Must have the ability to grasp, perform fine manipulation, push/pull, and move about when assisting with procedures and/or using department equipment.
- Must cope with frequent contact with the general public and customers, meeting deadlines under pressure, working under occasional close supervision or independently, and dealing with irregular activity schedules while maintaining continuous concentration on detail.
