32 - Salary Range: $17.00 – $25.50 per hour
The Nursing Assistant (NA) serves as caregiver to the resident during the scheduled work period in long‑term care. Provides resident‑centered nursing care and daily living assistance to an assigned resident under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN). Knowledge of and delivers age‑appropriate care related to the physical and psychological needs of the resident as per the care plan. The NA is expected to follow infection prevention and control policies and personal protective equipment use.
Responsibilities include assistance with basic health‑care needs, bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing, vital‑sign recording, psychosocial support, transfer and mobility assistance, range‑of‑motion exercises, food preparation and dining, housekeeping, laundry, wellness and recreational program participation, and participation in departmental committees as needed.
- High school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED) preferred, but not required.
- Minimum age of 16.
- Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long‑term care preferred.
- Required Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification with the State Board of Nursing, or state‑certified CNA within four months of start date, or enrollment in a training program or endorsement process.
- Completes yearly department‑specific competency testing and maintains a record of continuing education credits (minimum 12 hours annually).
- Maintains all department‑specific required certifications.
- When applicable: certified and registered with the Unlicensed Assistive Person (UAP) Registry.
- May classify as a Sanford Category II Driver requiring a motor vehicle report, valid driver’s license, and medical qualification to perform essential driving functions per Sanford Driving Policy.
