HCA Healthcare is seeking a Registered Nurse for our Neuro Progressive Care unit within our Healthcare & Medical Services department. In this role, you will provide high-quality, patient-centered care to individuals with complex neurological conditions, collaborate with an interdisciplinary team, and support patients and families through progressive recovery. - Provide direct nursing care to adult patients with complex neurological conditions in a progressive care/step-down setting
- Perform comprehensive and focused neurological assessments and frequent neuro checks
- Monitor vital signs, hemodynamic status, neurological status, and response to treatments, escalating concerns promptly
- Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments in accordance with provider orders and nursing standards
- Coordinate care and communicate effectively with neurologists, neurosurgeons, hospitalists, and the interprofessional care team
- Prepare patients for and assist with diagnostics, procedures, and post-operative neurosurgical care
- Recognize and respond to changes in patient condition, activating appropriate rapid response or emergency protocols
- Educate patients and families on neurological conditions, treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions
- Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and timely in the electronic medical record
- Participate in interdisciplinary rounds, quality improvement, and patient safety initiatives on the neuro progressive care unit
- Maintain infection prevention, fall prevention, and other safety standards to support a safe care environment
- Engage in ongoing professional development, neuro-focused education, and competency maintenance
- Acute care nursing
