The Registered Nurse is responsible for assisting patients in collaboration with the provider and other members of the health care team with all clinical services available at the clinic, including patient intake, documenting medical history, vital signs, preparing and administering injections and vaccinations, EKGs, performing CLIA waived lab testing, and executing additional medical services within the scope of practice.
Responsibilities- Obtain, verify, and record health history of patients.
- Gather pertinent health data through physical assessments and biological samples.
- Collect specimens using proper technique for laboratory analysis and perform point‑of‑care testing for all testing done in clinic.
- Provide patient care as directed by physician or advanced practice clinician, exercising skilled judgment based on patient presentation and protocols in place.
- Document assessments, interventions, patient/family interactions, responses, medications dispensed or prescribed, and test results in the medical record.
- Assist other health care professionals in performing exams, diagnostic procedures, treatments, and minor surgical procedures in the clinic setting.
- Ensure all patient information is accurately recorded in the patient chart for quality reporting and data extraction purposes.
- Coordinate and manage care of patients seen by the provider, including following up and tracking testing, referrals.
- Stay informed of insurance requirements and guidelines for patient care, performing prior authorizations and acting as patient advocate.
- Regularly monitor patients as appropriate to promote wellness and health maintenance, including preventive and chronic care.
- Participate in the development of the plan of care with team members and safely implement that plan.
- Promote wellness by providing patient education materials and communicating provider advice or instructions.
- Schedule, coordinate, and communicate referrals to specialists and services ordered by the provider.
- Experience:
Minimum required: clinic experience with patients of all ages;
Preferred: two to three years. - Education:
Minimum required:
Registered Nurse or Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Preferred: N/A. - Licenses:
Minimum required:
Kansas Licensed Registered Nurse. Preferred: N/A. - Certifications:
Minimum required: CPR certification. State license: current state licensure as a Registered Nurse.
