The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) plays a vital role in delivering direct patient care and supporting clinical staff under licensed supervision. This position involves performing nursing acts within the scope defined by the relevant licensing board, ensuring patients receive compassionate and competent care across all age groups, from newborns to geriatrics.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Assess patient needs and develop, implement, review, and maintain comprehensive care plans.
- Administer medications accurately, manage medication orders and prior authorizations, and ensure timely delivery to patients.
- Educate patients and families on physical, emotional, and psychosocial care aspects, including disease processes, symptom and pain management, and end-of-life signs when appropriate.
- Maintain timely and precise documentation in accordance with healthcare policies.
- Communicate relevant patient information effectively to medical and supervisory staff.
- Adhere to privacy and security regulations concerning Protected Health Information (PHI).
- Foster professional relationships with patients, healthcare teams, and external agencies.
Education and Experience:
- Graduate of an accredited LPN program.
- Current BLS/CPR certification from an approved provider within 30 days of hire or by orientation completion.
- Licensed Practical Nurse credential from a compact state or the applicable nursing board.
- Driver's license and auto insurance meeting regional requirements if driving is necessary.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a similar healthcare environment is advantageous.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Basic computer proficiency.
- Strong multitasking and prioritization capabilities.
- Effective communication skills.
- Ability to apply patient care principles thoughtfully and competently.
Physical Requirements:
This role may require occasional heavy lifting (up to 100 lbs) and frequent standing or walking (51-75% of the workday), with or without accommodation.
