Lab Support Technician – Lenexa, KS (Mon – Fri, 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM)

Pay range: $17.20+ per hour. Salary offers are based on relevant skills, training, experience, education, and certifications as applicable. Successful candidates may be eligible for an annual performance bonus.

Role Overview

The Support Technician performs various technical and clerical functions under the supervision of a supervisor or designee. Duties include order entry, processing, testing (including point‑of‑care patient testing) and reporting of waived and moderately complex kit test results as allowed by organizational and CLIA guidelines. The standard of ethical and professional performance must be consistent with established medical laboratory practice.

Responsibilities
  • General
    • Comply with all OSHA, health and safety requirements.
    • Comply with all MACL policies and procedures, including HR & Corporate Compliance/Integrity.
    • Contribute to a positive work environment by functioning as a team member.
    • Organize, plan, and perform multiple tasks to accomplish corporate objectives.
    • Cooperate in the completion of additional duties as assigned.
    • Utilize and maintain equipment and supplies to maximize efficiency and cost control.
    • Show responsibility to the job and co‑workers by exhibiting good attendance and punctuality.
    • Provide internal and external customer assistance with a positive, service‑oriented attitude, including proper telephone etiquette.
    • Demonstrate flexibility as required to meet customer and organizational needs.

    • Maintain ethical standards such as confidentiality and professionalism.
    • Complete training checklists and be evaluated for proper performance of duties (competency) prior to initiating job duties and when new duties are assigned.
    • Demonstrate competency on all checklist tasks within six months.
  • Processing
    • Adhere to collection and processing requirements to prevent loss or compromise of specimens.
    • Utilize all tools (including computer functions) to ensure appropriate specimen requirements and knowledge of interferences.
    • Perform accurate and complete labeling.
    • Follow proper processing techniques (e.g., pour off, culture set‑up).
    • Prepare and store specimens appropriately.
    • Complete all documentation to facilitate processing, tracking, and problem‑solving.
    • Utilize computer functions appropriately, including manual backup systems.
    • Evaluate specimen integrity for testing ordered.
    • Prioritize workload appropriately.
  • Technical
    • All Support Technicians perform technical work under the direct supervision of a qualified individual.
    • Perform technical duties accurately as assigned.
    • Perform general cleaning, daily maintenance, supplies, and inventory of technical areas as assigned.
    • Perform clerical functions: reports, pending logs, charging, credit reports, patient charts, faxing, filing, and registration.
    • Perform and document non‑testing preventative maintenance as trained, assigned, and competency documented.
    • Report and document testing and non‑testing QC results as trained, assigned, and competency documented.
    • Perform additional technical tasks as assigned (e.g., processing send‑out tests, frozen section room duties, supply/reagent management).
    • Demonstrate working knowledge of all computer systems within the department.
    • Ensure all daily and periodic maintenance and non‑testing QC is performed as assigned.
