Our Georgia-Pacific facility in Blue Rapids, KS is seeking a motivated, reliable, and safety-oriented individual to join our team as a Lab Technician. In this role, you will perform daily lab activities and determine whether products meet industry and company set standards including performing lab tests, verifying sample properties, and taking necessary corrective action whenever a product is out of spec.
Schedule- 40 hours/week
- Rotating 7-8 hour shifts (exact hours will vary)
- Includes weekends, some holidays, and overtime
- Pay starting at $26-$28/hour, depending on experience

- Conduct tests, analyze results, and record data in the plant Quality system
- Take corrective action when products do not meet specifications
- Maintain and ensure the accuracy of lab equipment on a daily and quarterly basis
- Pre-screen raw materials and review Certificates of Analysis (COA)
- Support trials for new process additives, formulations, and lab instruments implementation
- Document and communicate quality, instrumentation, and production issues to relevant teams
- Adhere to all plant health, safety, and environmental guidelines, policies, and procedures
- Ensure production conforms to GP's Quality Assurance programs and external third-party certification programs (e.g., UL, Factory Mutual, ICC-ES, Intertek)
- Perform physical tasks such as lifting, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing, and/or pulling for up to twelve (12) hours a day in a hot, humid, cold, and noisy industrial environment
- Lift materials weighing up to 50 pounds while working around dust, grease, oil, and other chemical substances
- Effectively communicate verbally and written across the team and other departments as needed
- Experience in a manufacturing, industrial, agricultural, or military environment
- Experience working in a QA/QC environment
- Experience with Microsoft Office Word, Outlook, and Excel
- 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing setting
- Experience with equipment calibration in a Quality Assurance lab
- Previous work experience in a plaster manufacturing facility
- Bachelor's degree in a science discipline OR a minimum of four (4) years of quality lab experience
