What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
  • Provide expert guidance on culturally appropriate research methodologies with American Indian tribes
  • Advise on data analysis approaches that respect Tribal sovereignty and cultural protocols
  • Consult on ethical research practices essential for community-based participatory research
  • Offer strategic guidance on compliance with Tribal research protocols and IRB requirements
  • Review research materials and participant engagement strategies to ensure cultural responsiveness
What is Required (Qualifications):
  • Doctoral degree (PhD, DrPH, or equivalent) in public health, anthropology, social work, or a related field
  • Demonstrated expertise in conducting research with American Indian Tribes
  • Proven experience developing culturally appropriate methodologies within Tribal partnerships
  • Strong understanding of Tribal sovereignty, research ethics, and community-based participatory research principles
  • Familiarity with NIH-funded research projects and navigating Tribal IRB processes
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
  • Established relationships with Tribal communities
  • Experience with advance care planning or end-of-life care research
  • Publications demonstrating culturally responsive research with Indigenous communities
  • Familiarity with qualitative and mixed-methods research approaches
